What Is Education Support?

Our education support service is there to be a direct link between schools, families and Perth Autism Support offering support to parents and schools with advice, information and strategies.

Families registered with Perth Autism Support can contact our School team and an individual support plan can be put together.

Schools can also contact us directly if they require autism specific advice, strategies or training.

What Can Education Support Include?

Peer Understanding Autism talks – school assemblies or class talks to help develop peer awareness and understanding
Setting up lunchtime clubs – providing support in less structured times of the day, i.e. Lego clubs and girls groups.
Support with transitions – supporting families and schools with the transition process (from nursery to primary and primary to secondary)
Individual work with pupils – covering a wide range of support including, but not limited to, engaging with education and managing anxiety
Attend Child Plan Meetings
Meet families who schools feel would perhaps benefit from accessing Perth Autism Support services
Supporting school staff with understanding individual learners and how to support them in the best way whilst in education

Open Minds

We are delighted to be working as part of a wider Education Recovery programme across Perth & Kinross; with colleagues across a range of youth services.

We will be delivering our Open Minds project, supporting young people who have barriers reengaging in learning due to anxiety post Covid-19.

Young people can be referred to the programme through their schools so if you are a parent/carer who thinks this may be beneficial for your young person please speak to your school in the first instance, or if you work within a school and would like to refer a young person to the project, please contact our team on schools@perthautismsupport.org.uk
