Work Experience Support

Interested in a work experience?

The Work Experience Support Service is available across Perth & Kinross to source and support work experience placement opportunities for young people.  It is essential for autistic young people to have a meaningful work experience placement.

This allows them the opportunity to learn key skills, improve confidence and be equipped for the working environment.

The criteria for accessing this service are as follows:

  • The young person must be in S4/5/6 and attend a secondary school in the Perth and Kinross area or have ended their formal education but have not yet moved on to a positive destination within further/higher education or employment and aged 16 years or over.
  • The young person must be registered to Perth Autism Support (This is for the purpose of retaining personal information, they will not be required to access anything else from PAS)

What is the aim of the Work Experience Service?

  • To co-ordinate the support of young people in S4/S5/S6 to have access to meaningful, well supported work experience opportunities
  • To support the young person within their placement to ensure they are able to learn and work with no barriers, through the development of an individual action plan
  • To ensure the employer is educated about the Autism specific nature of the young person throughout the time of the placement
  • To review, monitor and action the individual plans of the young people in collaboration with their employers.

Perth Autism Support has a network of appropriate employers to identify potential resources and opportunities which may be available for young people.

The work experience can be for a fixed time or could be arranged over a flexible, extended period of time.
