This session will take place at our centre at 14 New Row, Perth.
Interoception is our body’s system that tells us how how we are feeling on the inside, so we can respond to our needs.
Interoception allows us to experience many body sensations including hunger, dry mouth, racing heart, needing the bathroom and also lets us know how we are feeling in terms of our emotions and how we feel based on the body signals we are aware of.
This information session will introduce Interoception as a sensory system and why, if we have a poor interoceptive understanding, the impact this might have on us if we are not able to feel what is happening in our bodies well or if our body sensations are so overwhelming we don’t know how to process and respond.
We will look at how this might affect physical activities like toileting, eating etc, but also the researched impact on our emotional regulation skills and anxiety, but also ways in which we can develop our Interoception skills.
A fascinating session based around our Eighth Sensory System!
