PAS @ Perthshire Pride – 13th August 2022

Perthshire Pride is back in person and bigger than ever!

With the brilliant Alan Cumming leading the march and delivering the opening speech on Saturday 13th August, we can’t wait!

We are delighted that the Perthshire Pride team have asked us to come back and host a quiet space for the event, along with our stand to celebrate all things autism and Pride, our team will be on hand to answer questions, offer a safe, quiet space from the crowds and we can bring you up to date on all our LGBTQ+ services!

In the meantime our team who work in our Rainbow Social for LGBTQ+ young people and their allies have put together some info about Pride and how to keep yourself safe at the event!

We really hope you can join us and celebrate the fabulous diversity of Perthshire!

See you there!

Attending Pride & Keeping Yourself Safe

 What is Pride?

Pride is an historical event where we reject “gay shame”, be our honest selves, feel happy, content, and powerful, at an event to celebrate our LGBTQ+ family, culture and history.

Is it a Parade? Is it a Party?

It’s both. As well as being a political protest. Equality is not a one and done thing – and we celebrate how far we’ve come, while protesting how much further we still have to go.

How to keep yourself safe?

Survival Tips

  • Clothing & wear good shoes. Chances are you’ll be marching and dancing.
  • Bring water. Keep hydrated!
  • Wear layers that you can add and take away depending on the weather and how you feel.

Deal with emotions

  • Check in with yourself.
  • Breathe
  • Time Out Zone. Perth Autism Support will be at this years’ Perthshire Pride. If it’s too loud, or you’re feeling overwhelmed in the crowd, come and find our Autism Friendly/Quiet Area, where you can take a moment.

Advice for Allies

Pride is for everyone, but remember it’s mostly about LGBTQ+ people, and their rights. So be supportive, celebrate us, and join in!
