Young Adult Transition Service
Our Young Adult Project supports our children aged 16 years and over to support their move out of Perth Autism Support services and into adult services and support the challenges and triumphs this may bring
Our Young Adults have access to a weekly social group to develop their peer friendships to carry them on to the next stage of their lives and our Young Adult Co-ordinator works with each family to develop an individual plan to support the young people in a people centred approach. Individual support can be given in the following areas:
Work placement opportunities
This support can be completely tailored to the needs of each young person to develop their skills, confidence and self esteem,
Young people can still continue to access the general activities service along with the Young Adults Project.
Our Employment Support project is funded through the Scottish Government Strategy for Autism Innovation Fund and supports S4/5/6 pupils in all ten secondary schools across Perth & Kinross to source and be supported in suitable work experience opportunities, including training for employers and support to make "autism friendly" adjustments where required to the workplace. Working in partnership with Perth & Kinross Council we look to develop work experience opportunities to long term work planning through our Autism Modern Apprenticeship Scheme and working with our colleagues in other employability organisations.
Ease the Move
Funded again through the Scottish Strategy for Autism Innovation Fund our Ease the Move project is designed for young adults leaving education but who may not be ready for employment or further/higher education. The service, based in Blairgowrie allows young adults up to two years depending on individual needs to gain the necessary skills and experience before the next stage of their lives in to adult services.
The project supports the young people with:
Community based activities
Appropriate adult learning opportunities
Support to further/higher education
But all at a pace that is right for each young person to ensure they have the same opportunities as their peer group.
