Ease The Move - Transition Project
We are delighted to announce through the Scottish Government’s Autism Innovation Fund, we have been successful in 4 bids for projects within Perth Autism Support, one of these being our new EASE THE MOVE project which we will be delivered in partnership with Perth & Kinross Council, Day Opportunities.
The pilot will be delivered from, in the first instance, from Blairgowrie Day opportunities in Jessie Street, Blairgowrie, with the hope that the (successful!) model will be expand into all three locality areas in Perth & Kinross. The pilot will offer places for young people aged 16-25 with autism who perhaps need a slower more autism specific targeted move from children to adult services. The service will be completely person centred in its approach as with all of Perth Autism Support services and the young people will spend time in the centre at Jessie Street and make use of local community activities, projects, adult learning opportunities etc.
We acknowledge that transition is a process that evolves over several years and therefore the project is looking at spending 1-2 years with individuals who may not be able to remain within education services (due to age or circumstance) but who are not quite ready to access college or employment opportunities through our current Young Adult Service.
We would like to give parents of young people who will be aged between 16 and 25 years old between now and 2018 the opportunity to be part of the design of this exciting new transition service and we will be holding an information session at:
Blairgowrie Day Opportunities, Jessie Street, Blairgowrie, PH10 6BT
Thursday 11th February between 6.00pm-7.30pm
Please note that although the project will be based in Blairgowrie, we will accept referrals for individuals from Perth & Kinross, however, you should be aware there will be no transport provided for this service so will be something to consider!
If you would like to attend this session, please let us know so we can ensure we have space for everyone!
