Term Time Activities
Our term time activities run Monday to Friday from 4.00pm and on a Saturday from 10.00am to 3.45pm. We currently support approximately 200 children within our term time activities in classes that are supported on a 2:1 child to adult ratio.
Our staff and volunteers are all autism trained and keep their CPD up to date in line with the organisation's training policies.
We have clear lessons plans for all our activities, which are set up to accommdate the different sensory, communication and social difficulties that children with autism can often face. The activities are all focussed on skills development in a fun way with staff supporting natural conversation and encouraging peer friendships.
We currently offer the following activities:
Video Game Programming
Relax Kids/Chill Skills
So, as you can see there is something for everyone!
It is important to us that the children are at the centre of all that we do at Perth Autism Support with groups structured to allow them the best possible outcomes by attending, we therefore have colour coded groups instead of age related groups, this allows complete flexibility and an individualised approach to our support, so, for example, we may have one child who accesses the Red Social Goroup but the Blue Youth Theatre group, this is because our Children's Services Manager and the Activities Team have identified a better fit for the young person in different groups in terms of peer support and friendships and areas of interests of the other children in the group. Our Activities team do this in partnership with parents and keep parents fully updated to any changes made for their children and the reasons for this.
